It is no secret that our economy has gone down hill recently, and to many people this means finding free activities to keep them occupied. It seems that people have rediscovered the greatness of libraries. It is a whole world of free entertainment, and also a place where people can be in peace and get work done. With more and more people losing jobs, libraries have become a place where people can use the resources available to try and find a new job. There has been a trend of long lines and full computers across the country in libraries. But, despite how booming libraries have been lately, many of them are being closed or at least greatly cutting back their hours. People want and need libraries more and more as the economy worsens, but they may not get what they want if they are continued to be closed.
I have never even thought about a library being closed down, it seems like it just would not happen. I think that people need libraries now more than ever because it is free access to resources we would otherwise have to pay for. I think that getting rid of libraries or cutting hours is a bad idea, I would think that our society could find other ways of saving money than taking away one of the only free things in our lives today. Libraries are important parts of our past, present and future. Some people would not be able to ever find another job without the libraries help. I just think that it is ridiculous to be closing down libraries when they are so desperately needed by many people in this harsh economic time.
